Dog Training at Hairy Hounds' classes

Dog Training at Hairy Hounds offers group classes focusing on lifetime manners, helping your dog fit into your lifestyle and become and remain a happy member of your family.

Our classes are small to ensure you and your dog receive a personalised service.

Classes are held at various times throughout the week to meet your needs.

Although the aim of class is for everyone involved to have fun, there are some basic rules we ask you to follow in order to help our animals feel comfortable and confident in class. As wonderful leaders we’re going to do our best to ensure that our dogs become confident, happy dogs, and following some basic rules will help with this process.

  • Have a fun positive attitude, leave your troubles at the door for your dog’s sake

  •  Wear appropriate clothing & closed footwear

  • Please be a few minutes early in order to start classes on time.
Dogs are easily distracted by late comers. If a class is running, don’t enter until given the okay by the trainer to avoid disruption.

  •  All dogs are to remain on lead unless permitted by the trainer.

  • Dogs and owners are to maintain a safe distance (approx 2 metres) from other students at all times, unless otherwise instructed

  • Children under 15 are to be accompanied by an adult.

  • Children are not to run onto training areas and must be supervised.

  • When children are helping with the training, please ensure mum or dad trains the dog first and once the dog understands then the child can assist with training

  • Please, no yelling or physical force – we will teach pups to learn with positive methods (therefore rewarding positive and ignoring negative behaviours) and it also upsets other dogs and owners.

  • The school accepts no responsibility for any accident, loss, or damage to person or property.

  • No dog is allowed to be tethered unattended.

Important health notes to consider when coming to training

  •  If your dog is showing any signs of illness please do not bring him/her to class and if you are concerned, consult your vet as soon as possible.

  • If your dog passes stools at training school please clear it up immediately. (bags provided).

  • If your dog could be pregnant please do not bring her to class.

  • If your dog is in season do not bring her to class.

  • Always wash your hands after handling your pup or dog

  • There is a first aid kit on site, please consult your trainer.

  •  In cases of extreme heat classes may not be held. Your trainer will contact you if this is the case.

Classes provided include:

The next step for pups and owners to ensure they’re still on the right track. Your pup will have entered another developmental stage at this time, where you will be facing different issues and meeting different behaviours form your pup. Get the right advice. Includes a one hour trainer to owner personal session in which students will learn how to use luring and a reinforcement to elicit desired behaviours using positive reinforcement training.

Class Times – TBA
Class Duration – 1 personal session & 5 weeks x 50 minutes
Class Price - $155 cash or cheque only

Covering -

  • A revision of the exercises taught in Puppy 1 but with the added distraction of duration and distance.

There will be treats provided at class but we cannot guarantee your dog will like them!
